Top Five Computer Science Careers

Careers in computer science aren’t hard to find. There are wide ranges of specialties in computer science to choose from. The key to finding the perfect computer science career is to narrow the individual specialties down to the ones that are the fastest-growing, will allow room for you to grow in that career and, of course, you may want to check out the salary statistics for each of the jobs.

For instance, take a look at the job description and salary statistics for a systems analyst. A systems analyst has a wide variety of responsibilities including researching and recommending software and system choices to meet the requirements of other businesses. Systems analysts communicate with their customers about what the customers’ requirements are for a particular project. They meet with designers and developers that are working on the software to make sure it is up to the customer’s standards. With the help of testers, systems analysts use sample data to perform tests on it to make sure it is working properly and then the systems analysts enable the new systems. On average in the United States, a systems analyst makes anywhere from $45,000 to $60,000 a year.

Another top computer science career is a software engineer. A software engineer applies the techniques and procedures that are used in the design, development, testing and evaluation of the software and systems that allow computers to run correctly. The average salary of a software engineer in the U.S. is $80,000 a year.

Computer programmers are the brains behind the software. Computer programmers’ job duties involve writing the software; testing the software for glitches and then debugging the software; and also maintaining the computer programs so that they run correctly. Typically, depending on the programmer’s employer and what type of programming is being done, the salary of a computer programmer can range anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 a year.

Next, we’ll take a look at network systems analyst. A network systems analyst does the designing, evaluating, testing, and maintaining of a variety of different networks, including WANS, LANS, intranets, wireless systems, etc. The average yearly income of a network systems analyst is $60,000.

The last computer science career we’ll talk about today is the database administrator. A database administrator is responsible for the recoverability of the database such as creating and testing the Backups. They are also responsible for verifying the integrity of the database and for making sure the database is secure. Database administrators also have to make sure the availability and performance of the database are at its maximum and they help the programmers and the engineers with development and testing support. Although the database administrator is responsible for all these things, they also have an array of other duties depending on their particular job description, employer, etc. The annual salary of a database administrator ranges from $70,000 to $95,000. However, the median annual salary in the U.S. for a database administrator is $82,000.

Keep in mind, these are just five of the computer science careers. There are many more careers in computer science with annual incomes and responsibilities within the same range as those listed.

Animators are artists who create motion graphics and illustrations. When most people think of an animator career, they think of cartoons or the computer animations we see in movies and television. However, the field of animation is more expansive this that and continues to grow.

Animators might work in a number of industries including film, television, and video games, but they are increasingly finding work in areas like advertising, and web design. In each of these fields, the role of an animator may vary in different ways; however, the basic duties and responsibilities are the same. An animator is expected to create and/or design motion graphics that will tell a story or convey a particular message.

There are a number of different types of animation as well. In general, an animator will work in 2D animation, 3D animation, or computer graphics and design. Each is done differently and the end product can be drastically different depending on what medium is used.

Animators might also use a range of different computer programs to help in the creation of their final project. The program used may vary depending on the type of animation, the quality of the animation, as well as the animator’s personal preferences. A skilled animator will be proficient in many different programs, as this will also help in being competitive for jobs.

Animators are increasingly finding opportunities to work full-time as employees within a company; however, some still work as freelance animators. Working in a company grants an animator a number of benefits including job security, a steady income, and often health benefits. Animators might be hired by television or film production companies, advertising companies, web design firms, video game companies, or animation firms. As an employee for one of these companies, an animator will generally work with a team on projects based on the company’s interests.

The opportunity to become a freelance animator has increased, especially with the help of the internet. Many animators are now able to create their own websites and use them as portfolios for their work. This makes it easier to contact potential employers and provide them with a sample of the animator’s skills and proficiencies.

Animators are not required to have any particular qualifications, other than the ability to use computer programs and design creative animations; however, many find that it helps to have some educational background. Having a degree in animation or an arts related field helps by demonstrating to employers that the animator has a certain base of knowledge and a commitment to the field. Despite this, whether an animator is hired or not will ultimately come down to his/her skill and ability.

The animation industry is on the rise since the video game, film, and online marketing industries are all on the rise. There is an increasing demand for skilled animators who can create attractive, compelling, and/or funny animations. And though there is a lot of competition for jobs, with determination and hard work, it will not be difficult for a skilled animator to find a good job.

Think about how many medium to large scale businesses in the United States use computer networks and how critical the stability of those networks are to their daily operations and ultimately their bottom line. If a network goes down, it often means that the employees who depend on it are faced with an unproductive workday and the business suffers greatly. That is why there is such high demand for Computer Networking Tech’s across all industry types. Another name for this Line of work, including network administration and management of the communication infrastructure of computers.

About Work

All employees have their work station, leading a series of basic tasks to complex e-mail software applications specific to their role in the workplace. If prompted by problems with the network that a higher level of experience, a network administrator in steps to resolve the situation. Workstations andservers are connected on the network and communicate using a variety of protocols such as FTP (File Transfer Protocol) or TCPIP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol). One way to think of it is to imagine a series of “highways” that, when blocked, must be freed up so that information and services can again flow as they should. A career in networking entails installation and maintenance of server operating systems, software, network lines, routers, and switches. In addition, you may be expected to administer IP addresses or create and maintain user accounts. The size of the company you work for often dictates how specialized your job is.

Let’s be honest, today’s world is dominated by computers, whether you know it or not, they organise us, look after us, manage us and can even save our lives. Unless you live in a cave, without electricity, you probably encounter computers every day. In fact with technology improving constantly and scientists finding more useful applications to use computers, the future will see use relying more and more on computers.

Since we already are in the digital age, why don’t you take a ‘byte’ of the action? Moving into a career in computing is a wise step. Employees without basic computing skills are at a severe disadvantage these days and it’s only going to get worse. The younger generations have grown up with technology all their lives; therefore operating a computer is second nature. Meanwhile older generations have been forced to adapt, some more successfully than others.

A career in computing today is not as nerdy as it sounds. With the average salary of an IT professional in the UK being 34500 pounds, a massive 12500 pounds above the UK average, it is certainly a well paid profession. As for flexibility, IT has to be one of the best. With technology advances including virtual private networks, email and of course the World Wide Web, working in the office can be a thing of the past. IT allows employees to work when they want and where they want.

The stereotypical view of the pale, pasty, pizza loving personnel in IT is as out of date as the floppy disk.
Recorded Webinars are a great way to generate sales and income 24/7, today and well into the future, with little effort on your part. Sure, you have to take the time to create and give a good presentation about your product or service initially in a Webinar Room, but then you let the recorded version tell your story for you over and over into the future, at no additional cost or effort on your part.

But what exactly is a Webinar room?

A Webinar room is a virtual room on the Internet where you can:

1. Invite others from around the world (or next door) to join you

2. Share live voice conversations

3. Share (show) your web site to visitors

4. Share Power Point (TM) presentations

5. Record the entire event – including web pages visited and the Power Point Presentations.

6. Share those recorded presentations on CD or the Web

How does this help you automate the sale process? Well, with your Webinar Room, you can show off your Web Site, products and services at no cost by simply taking visitors to your web site, a sales page or showing a Power Point (TM) presentation. You can even record the event with or without a live audience in the Webinar Room. That is up to you.

1. Upload the recorded Webinar on YouTube

2. Upload the recorded Webinar on your Blog

3. Upload the recorded Webinar on your Web Site

4. Place the recorded Webinar on a CD and hand them out

5. Place the recorded Webinar on a DVD and hand them out

Be sure to take the customers to your web site at the end of the Webinar so they can buy your product or service on the spot.

Oh, here’s the 6th way to make money with Webinars.

6. Convert the Webinar to an audio only MP3 and distribute it as a Podcast

In summary, once you have paid a small monthly fee for the conference room, you can use it as often as you like to give presentations, close sales, offer support or training, and make additional recordings of your Webinars. Be sure to investigate this new marketing tool and you will start to see it as one of your “Must have marketing tools too!”
